Clashes erupted across the country a day after the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) protest at the India AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam, triggering a wave of political confrontations and police action. From Indore to Puducherry and Varanasi to Delhi, BJP workers staged demonstrations condemning the disruption, with several protests turning violent. Police forces were deployed in multiple cities to control the situation.

Meanwhile, the four Indian Youth Congress workers – Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Ajay Kumar, and Narasimha Yadav – who were arrested by the police for protesting at the AI Summit half-naked have been sent to a five-day police custody.

Hardeep Puri must go, says one of the arrested IYC members

After the Patiala House court rejected their bail application and sent them to a five-day custody, the four IYC members were taken to jail. As they came out of the Patiala House Court, one of the IYC workers shouted, “Hardeep Puri must go.”

For the unversed, the Congress has been demanding the resignation of Union Minister Hardeep Puri after his name surfaced in the Epstein Files. Puri has admitted that he indeed met American sex offender Epstein on a few occasions but refused any links to his criminal activities.

BJP workers, led by party MP Manoj Tewari, also staged a protest in the national capital. The workers gathered outside the Congress headquarters and shouted slogans against the party and its leadership. “Even a person sitting in a village can be seen by an expert doctor from Delhi through AI facilities, get a diagnosis, and be advised on treatment. But who is upset by this? It is upsetting these traitorous Congress members…,” Manoj Tiwari said.
